Maharashtra Political Landscape Roiled as Congress Alleges BJP Behind 'Operation Keechad' Amidst Sena (UBT) Exodus

The political climate in Maharashtra has once again intensified following reports of several Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) Members of Parliament defecting to the rival Eknath Shinde-led faction. This latest development has drawn sharp condemnation from the Congress party, whose senior spokesperson, Pawan Khera, has publicly labelled the alleged manoeuvres as "Operation Keechad" (Operation Mud).

Addressing the media, Khera launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, questioning their motives behind what he termed the "poaching" of elected representatives from opposition ranks. He suggested that such actions might be part of a broader, more sinister agenda aimed at potentially altering the fundamental constitutional fabric of the nation. The Congress leader's remarks underscore growing concerns within opposition circles regarding what they perceive as systematic attempts to weaken rival parties.

Khera also highlighted that the situation in Maharashtra is not an isolated incident. He drew parallels to recent political shifts observed in West Bengal, where the Trinamool Congress experienced a similar exodus of its Members of Parliament, who subsequently switched their allegiance. This pattern, according to the Congress, points towards a concerted strategy to destabilise opposition forces across various states.

The accusations have reignited a heated debate over ethical political practices and the integrity of democratic processes, particularly as the nation heads towards crucial electoral cycles. While the BJP is yet to issue a detailed response to Khera's specific "Operation Keechad" allegations, the political fallout from these defections and the subsequent accusations are expected to continue shaping the discourse in Maharashtra and beyond.
